Sad end of the season

After covering 750 kms, including 231 kms of special stages Maciek Oleksowicz and Andrzej Obrebowski from Castrol TRW MOTOINTEGRTOR were forced to retire from Rally Spain due to engine failure.

Today Olksowicz and Obrebowski tackled smooth Catalan stages using a tarmac-converted car. During the first loop the car was flawless. However, heading for the service park the machine halted at the liaison merely 3 kms before the destination. It caused the Polish crew was forced to retire.

Maciek Oleksowicz:

- Unfortunately we were forced to premature retirement during Rally Spain. At the liaison section after the first loop of Saturday’s stages, the engine blew. Right after that the car went into inspection. We aimed at starting it once more and be able to continue on Sunday. Unfortunately, it was not possible. It is a sad end of the season. I’m glad we were quite competitive on tarmac. After Friday’s showers, the stages were wet on Saturday. In 80% we drove on damp asphalt. There was a lot of mud in some cuts, so the conditions were treacherous. It was easy to make a mistake. There was a lot of dirty spots at the final stage which was the reverted option of tarmac section of Friday’s longest test. Basically the rally was very difficult, but at the same time very nice – there were lots of spectators creating fantastic ambience. The rally was perfectly organized. I wish I could come back there once again. We wish to thank all our fans for all-season support and keeping their fingers crossed. We’d like to thank our sponsors – Castrol, TRW and MOTOINTEGRATOR, which have been supporting us for many years. I cannot forget about people creating our team. They worked really hard during last season. We had happy and sad moments, but despite all odds all team members worked hard and faced all problems with dignity. I’m happy we managed to build the team of fantastic people. We’re grateful for our families for support we felt all the time, even if we were far away.

In 2012 SWRC season the Castrol TRW MOTOINTEGRATOR crew competed in 7 rallies. We could admire Oleksowicz and Obrebowski in wintry Rally Sweden and in picturesque New Zealand. Apart from that the crew was seen in Great Britain, Finland, France and Portugal, where they were classified in 2nd position in SWRC. Polish duo scored points in five out of seven rallies. In Spain and France they retired due to mechanical failures. They gathered 65 points and were classified in 5th place in final classification.
